Zipper Pouches

I found a load of little zippers at my local thrift store, so I decided to use up some of my scraps in my fabric trunk. This was the first one I made. I made another last night but haven't taken pictures yet, and they'll probably go on my etsy shop.

Tatting Class

Hello! I recently took a lace tatting class from The Mad Tatter. Here are the things that I made in his class, and hopefully over the summer I'll be able to make an edging for a sheer light green curtain that's hanging in our living room. I'll post pictures when I pick a pattern and as I go along. It will probably take quite a while... Each medallion took me about an hour to do, and I'll need at least 20 feet of edging.

My Serger!

Last year I found this old serger at a garage sale, and bought it. I only started cleaning it and trying to figure it out in the last couple of weeks. I had to buy the manual on eBay. I threaded it with regular spools of thread because I don't have the special ones... It took forever to thread, but it was worth it! It actually works! Here's a pic of the serger and the first piece of fabric I tried it out on. The tension of the threads is hard to figure out, but hopefully I'll get it eventually.

Happy Valentines Day!

Sorry, I should have gotten this off yesterday...
One thing I must say about my temp job taking calls for Valentines flowers, they certainly spoiled us a bit! On three different days last week they gave us each a chocolate covered strawberry. These weren't ordinary ones, either. They took off the greens and popped the whole strawberry in a thick layer of chocolate! The most delicious thing I've ever eaten. They made special ones for us one day, with it dipped in white chocolate and then the milk chocolate. Yum, yum. I took a picture of mine once I saw what shape it was!

Winter Haruo

This is a sweater monster made for the Singer "Sewing with Nature" contest. He's an upsized version of the original Haruo, with pocket and scarf knitted especially for him! He's about 8 inches tall when he's sitting, and he's soft and squishy; perfect for a softie! I'm putting together a sweater monster tutorial soon, so watch for it and save your old sweaters...
